Brighton North – Langley 

This month we’re showcasing a newer subdivision by Foxridge Homes, in Willoughby, Langley.

Deadline for Canada Greener Homes GRANT

Natural Resources Canada has provided an update on the new deadline implemented on all outstanding Greener Homes Grant participants. All retrofits, evaluations and document submissions MUST be completed and sent in by December 31, 2025 in order to receive the grant payment.

Green Communities Canada

New Home Program Updates!

Fortis BC have recently updated the terms and conditions. Not only for the dual-fuel heat pump rebates in FortisBC gas-serviced areas, all-electric rebate program for FortisBC’s electric service territories is now also extended to the end of 2027. The rebate applications must be submitted 6 months after the completion date for the building, or by December 31, 2027, whichever comes first.

New Heat Pump Rebates for Electric Multi-Unit Residential Buildings

As of July 15th, 2025, BC Hydro and Clean BC have added a new rebate program for apartments, condos, and stacked townhomes.

Starting September 15, 2025, The City of Vancouver will implementing their latest version of the Energy Modelling Guidelines. These new updates will add clarity, consistency, and alignment with climate resilience and provincial standards.

Lowering Energy Bill during Heat Waves

With the joy of summer, comes the heat. Fortis BC has released an article on how to avoid climbing energy bills as we try to stay cool during a heat wave. They highlight the best practices to implement before, during, and after a heat wave to lower Air Conditioning usage and bill increases.

DEFINITION OF THE MONTH

Heating Degree Days (HDD)

A measure of how much heating is required to maintain a comfortable indoor temperature, typically at 18 degrees C. In Canada, the climate zones are determined using six HDD categories, from zone 4 to 8.

Please remember to book your mid construction and final blower door tests at least two weeks in advance!

Friendly reminder to anyone needing to book their blower door tests. Please give us a call or email us at manager@capitalhomeenergy.com two weeks in advance to ensure we can have you on the schedule. This will ensure a quicker turnaround time for your reports!
