The 2026 CHBA National Awards for Housing Excellence open this October. Canada’s top awards for new homes, renovations, and marketing include Net Zero categories (entries must be CHBA-labelled). Members will be notified when entries open.

Deadline Update for New Homes Program
Homes pre-registered under the 2023 (and older) New Home Programs must reach occupancy by December 31, 2025. Rebate applications are due within 6 months of completion or by June 30, 2026, whichever comes first.

Canada Greener Homes LOAN
Natural Resources Canada has officially closed the Greener Homes Loan to new applicants as of October 1, 2025. While they haven’t yet shared a deadline for current participants to finish their renovations and complete the loan process, we’ll be keeping a close eye on updates. In the meantime, please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.

Deadline for Canada Greener Homes GRANT
Natural Resources Canada has provided an update on the new deadline implemented on all outstanding Greener Homes Grant participants. All retrofits, evaluations and document submissions MUST be completed and sent in by December 31, 2025 in order to receive the grant payment.

CHBA: Building Science for New Homes
This course provides an overview of building science issues and sound business practices. This course is a pre-requisite to become a certified Net Zero, R-2000 or ENERGY STAR builder, and is suggested for participating in the EnerGuide for New Homes and Built Green programs.

Zero Carbon Step Code (ZCSC)
The Zero Carbon Step Code is a new regulation for single-family homes and other buildings in BC. It sets limits on carbon emissions from building operations, helping reduce greenhouse gases and move construction toward net-zero.
