FEATURED PROJECT

Lanefab
Vancouver Net Zero

We are pleased to introduce this Vancouver Net Zero home developed and built by Lanefab Design Build.

Lanefab is an integrated design/build company that crafts custom homes, duplexes and multiplexes with design quality & energy efficiency as core values.

Our team recently completed the final air tightness testing and CHBA Net Zero label for this home. The build incorporates design elements similar to Lanefab’s passive house standards, including a 13-inch wall assembly and integrated solar panels. It replaces a former gas bungalow, enabling two residences on the property and significantly reducing emissions. Lumber from the original structure was reclaimed using Vema’s “de-fab” process. Construction utilized Lanefab’s low-carbon methodology, featuring cellulose insulation, reduced-carbon concrete, and wood-framed windows.

Project Highlights:

  • Under slab insulation: Effective R-38
  • Foundation walls: Effective R-30 (avg)
  • AG Walls: Effective R-34
  • Roof: Effective R-50
  • Heating: Cold Climate air source heat pump
  • Domestic hot water: Integrated heat pump hot water tank
  • Air tightness: 0.95 ACH @ 50 Pa
  • Renewable: 30 PV solar panels, 14,160 kWh (per year)

DEFINITION OF THE MONTH

Environmental Product Declaration (EPD)

An Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is a verified, transparent document reporting a product’s environmental impact across its entire life cycle – from raw material extraction to disposal. Based on ISO 14025 standards and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) data, it discloses metrics like carbon emissions, energy usage, and water consumption, allowing for fair comparisons between products.

It is utilized in calculating the embodied carbon of the materials used for construction, and we offer this service – click HERE for more info

Please remember to book your mid construction and final blower door tests at least two weeks in advance!
