CHBA BC Letter to Premier Eby

On April 14, 2026 CHBA BC shared an open letter to the Premier, outlining our significant concerns with the recent PST expansion and the pace of code changes, and urging the government to:

  • Reverse PST expansion as it applies to professional services that support housing delivery.
  • Reverse the BCBC2024 Part 9 lateral load provisions and pause the adoption of the 2025 National Model Codes

CleanBC Independent Review Survey

The CleanBC Independent Review (Nov 2025) assessed the BC Energy Step Code and recommended improving affordability, flexibility, and timelines, including removing the highest step levels and advancing equipment efficiency requirements.

CACEA is preparing a formal response to the Government of BC, informed by member input. We invite you to share your feedback on these recommendations to help shape our submission. To read more about the survey and provide your feedback, please click HERE.

DEFINITION OF THE MONTH

ACH (Air Change per Hour)

Air changes per hour is the number of times that the total air volume in a room or building is completely removed and replaced in an hour. The lower the number the more air tight a house is, and it directly impacts the energy efficiency of the building.

Please remember to book your mid construction and final blower door tests at least two weeks in advance!
Friendly reminder to anyone needing to book their blower door tests. Please give us a call or email us at manager@capitalhomeenergy.com two weeks in advance to ensure we can have you on the schedule. This will ensure a quicker turnaround time for your reports!

We recommend contacting us for your mid-construction test just before the insulation starts.
