Vancouver CHBA Net Zero Duplex

High-performance housing, lower energy use, and year-round comfort in Vancouver
For this month’s feature project, we are highlighting a Vancouver home we finished in late 2025, designed around the CHBA Net Zero Home Labelling Program. The program recognizes homes that are built to an advanced performance standard, with Net Zero homes designed to produce as much clean energy as they consume over the course of a year.
This project was designed by Evoke, and Built by True Maple Construction. Net Zero construction starts with the fundamentals: a durable, high-performance building envelope, excellent airtightness, upgraded insulation, and efficient windows that help reduce heating and cooling demand. From there, right-sized mechanical systems, balanced ventilation, and renewable energy—typically rooftop solar—work together to deliver lower operating costs and a more comfortable living experience.
True Maple Construction understand how Net Zero building practices can be integrated into Vancouver homes without compromising livability, design, or day-to-day convenience. Projects like this one, also demonstrate the growing role of energy advisors, builders, designers, and trades working together early in the process to optimize performance before construction begins.
