We are now accepting new projects on the Sunshine Coast!

As of now,  all new Part 9 builds in the SCRD, Town of Gibsons, and District of Sechelt are required to meet Step 1 of the BC Energy Step Code. 

As of the beginning of this year, we have been working on projects in the SCRD, Town of Gibsons, and District of Sechelt. We will soon be performing mid-construction blower door tests.

UPDATE: Greener Homes Initiative from the Government of Canada

The Greener Home initiative will: provide up to 700,000 grants of up to $5,000 to help homeowners make energy efficiency retrofits to their homes, such as better insulation; support EnerGuide home evaluations and provide expert advice to homeowners so they can begin to plan their retrofits.


Who is Eligible? 

To participate in the initiative, a homeowner’s primary residence must be eligible for an EnerGuide home evaluation 

  • Single and semi-detached houses
  • Row housing
  • Townhomes
  • All-season cottages
  • Mobile homes on a permanent foundation
  • Permanently moored floating homes
  • Low-rise multi-unit residential buildings (3 storeys or less with a footprint of 600m2 or less)*
  • Mixed-use buildings (residential portion only)*

*Commercial multi-residential units (over 3 storeys or over 600 m2 in footprint) are not eligible homes under the initiative.

The Greener Home initiative will provide homeowners with up to $5,000 in grants for the purchase and installation of qualifying equipment or for the implementation of qualifying measures. The details are currently being finalized. They could include some heating and cooling system retrofits, envelope measures such as windows and insulation and some renewable energy measures.

CHBA: Building Science for New Homes – Burnaby

This course provides and overview of building science issues and sound business practices. This course is a pre-requisite to become a certified Net Zero, R-2000 or ENERGY STAR builder, and is suggested for participating in the EnerGuide for New Homes and Built Green programs.

COP (The Coefficient of Performance)
The coefficient of performance or COP (sometimes CP or CoP) of a heat pump, refrigerator or air condition system is a ratio of useful heating or cooling provided to work required. Higher COPs equate to lower operating costs. 

Please remember to book your mid construction tests at least two weeks in advance!

Friendly reminder to all builders needing to book their mid construction blower door tests. Please give us a call two weeks in advance to ensure we can have you on the schedule and to ensure a quicker turnaround time for your reports! We recommend contacting us when insulation has started.
