FEATURED PROJECT

Foxridge Homes Developments

For this month’s newsletter we’re excited to showcase Foxridge Homes.

Foxridge is one of British Columbia’s premier Developers building homes throughout the lower mainland. They currently have developments located in Langley, Surrey, and Coquitlam, and are building to various Step Code standards in those areas.

We’ve been testing their homes for the past four years and it’s been amazing to see the progression with airtightness results down to below 1 ACH (air changes per hour), on some projects.

This is extremely impressive for a large builder, but not surprising, as onsite quality control is priority one at Foxridge. We work with their entire team, from the Executives in the front office, to Project Managers, Site Supervisors, and trades on site, and the professional attitude is apparent in the quality of their homes.

Attributes of a Foxridge Home:

  • BC Energy Step Code compliant
  • Durable Construction techniques
  • Strong focus on Healthy indoor air quality
  • High Performance heating and cooling systems
  • High Performance domestic hot water systems
  • Low utility bills
  • Airtight construction
  • Energy Efficient

INDUSTRY NEWS

NEW: Federal Grant – Greener Homes Initiative

Homeowners are now eligible for up to $5,600 total under the initiative to make energy efficient retrofits to their home.

Last May, the federal government announced an initiative to encourage homeowners to make energy efficient retrofits to their homes.

Homeowners are eligible for up to $600 for the cost of pre- and post-retrofit EnerGuide evaluations and up to $5,000 total for the implementation of eligible retrofits

In order for homeowners to be eligible for the grant, it is important to make sure the pre-retrofit evaluation is done prior to completing any of the retrofits. It is also important to note that homeowners will only be eligible for the grant if they complete both the pre and post retrofit evaluation.

UPCOMING WEBINAR

NET ZERO Webinar: Ducted vs Ductless? How We’re Settling the HVAC Debate

When: July 22nd, 2021 at 10:30 PDT – 11:30 PDT

Panasonic, in partnership with Karwood Ontario, is undertaking an exciting new project that examines the capital and operating costs of a traditional HVAC ducted system vs. a ductless air-source heat pump (ASHP) installation in a typical single storey home. Two identical designed and constructed houses will be built, the first with a traditional furnace and AC unit, and the other will use a ductless ASHP. Capital costs of both installations will be examined, and an energy model will compare the operating costs of both houses over a 10-year period.

In this webinar, you will:

  • Learn about this innovative project in more detail
  • Understand the advantages of a ductless solution compared to a traditional HVAC system
  • Learn more about the Panasonic products involved in the project

Don’t miss your chance to hear about this comparison project and speak with industry experts from Panasonic and Karwood Ontario.

DEFINITION OF THE MONTH

Energy Efficiency

Energy Efficiency is a term used to help explain how to reach the goal of reducing the amount of energy required to provide products and services.

For example, with housing, adding more insulationbetter windows, and airtightness, allows a building to use less heating and cooling energy to achieve and maintain a comfortable temperature.

Please remember to book your mid construction tests at least two weeks in advance!

Friendly reminder to all builders needing to book their mid construction blower door tests. Please give us a call two weeks in advance to ensure we can have you on the schedule and to ensure a quicker turnaround time for your reports! We recommend contacting us when insulation has started.
